We're going to give the mapeditor business a shot, and we want you to tag along!
What
We want to create a mapeditor that allows live interaction with other people and that follows you everywhere you go, regardless of restrictions on your computer.
Why

How
The editor will be web-based and use a bunch of mana potions to work its geeky magic. Here's some specs we intend to follow:
- Javascript with jQuery - For all the flashy things in your browser (dragging the map, etc.)
- JSON - To communicate with the server without reloading the page for every little thing
- PHP - For the server to handle your data
- MySQL - Storing the map and related data

Hold on, here's something I'd like to know how it could be improved, the list of features:
- Mapping - As much RME-like functionality as possible (Let's face it, it's a nice mapeditor)
- Chat - One global channel and one restricted to people using that map
- Custom Creatures - Create your monsters/NPCs inside the editor, all in one nifty package
- Templates - Share pieces of your map/creatures with other members of the community
- Mini-boards - Discuss improvements with other members in your team
Well, getting the interface to work (dragging, placing items, etc) was a bit trickier than...
